Harnessing Your Ambition to Innovate and Create in New Hampshire

We are a community of business owners and enthusiasts who love New Hampshire as a place and as a philosophy. A state that would boldly pronounce to the world that you either “Live Free or Die” is a state of mind and worthy of consideration. While we don’t take the state motto to its stated conclusion, we do live by or, at least, admire its symbolism and gumption. Thank you, General Stark.

New Hampshire is special among the 50 states for its four seasons, it mountains, lakes and seashore, and its vast array of activities for the outdoor enthusiast…all within an easy hour or two. New Hampshire is deeply steeped in the American spirit of innovation and artistry. Here small business reigns supreme.

No matter who you are or where you come from, if you have an idea you want to develop into a product and a business, we at, Economic Vitality New Hampshire, think this is the place for you to create, build and connect. This is the place for you to build your community. You are invited.

On the following pages you will find the resources you will need to come to New Hampshire and establish yourself as a person, family or business. We hope you will add to our great state and, please let us know how we might improve on these resources.

UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES

About New Hampshire
New Hampshire is a crossroads where people come to meet, live and do business. We are a community of innovators and creators setting the pace for the 21st century. From the classroom and labs in our academic institutions to the experiments and innovation being carried out in our small home spaces and garages, we are saying to the world, New Hampshire is a special place that accepts you for who you are, that has community for you so you can innovate and build your business within a supportive community of other business owners and government entities.

There is good reason why New Hampshire always ranks among the top business friendly states. We have no state income tax, no sales tax and minimal business taxes. We rank among the most educated states with the lowest poverty and crime rates. This is a state unlike any other, where the Governor, government leaders and the Legislature are readily accessible.

The economy has been red hot for years and we see no end in sight. Our workforce is skilled and becoming increasingly young and diverse as more people find New Hampshire the place to live, start a family and grow a business.

Businesses Sought

As a community of small business owners, we want to share our little secret in this corner of New England. What makes New Hampshire special is the appreciation that it has for small business owners. Small business owners and small communities are the spirit of New Hampshire, yet we always think big and when we are ready to take the leap to start a business or to expand, there are plenty of resources available for advice and support. Some of these include the Small Business Administration, Small Business Development Center, SCORE, Tech Alliance, Business and Economic Affairs, Business and Industry Association, The Center for Women and Enterprise, the Business Alliance for People of Color, and many more.

People...Come One Come All
New Hampshire is changing. Younger and more diverse individuals and families are moving here. It is no longer rare to meet people that have recently relocated from every state of the nation and many countries to live and start a career or business or a family. But interestingly, New Hampshire has always been diverse. From indigenous peoples that were the original inhabits of this state, to the French Canadians that worked in New Hampshire’s mills to the African Americans that settled in places like Portsmouth and small communities as they moved north to escape the slavery of the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, Latinos, African Americans, and immigrant groups are increasingly discovering New Hampshire as a great place to live. Organizations such as Welcome New Hampshire, Stay, Work, Play, and Business Alliance for People of Color are evidence of the energy in the shifting demographics. Diversity in all its forms speak to the energy and possibilities of New Hampshire’s future success in an international arena.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

We have had many rewarding experiences since opening Senior Helpers. The one consistent rewarding experience we get over and over again is the spoken and written gratitude of our clients and their children that because of the service we provide, our clients can live full and productive lives in their own homes until end of life. REDC was most helpful to the opening and start of Senior Helpers of Southern New Hampshire. Not only did they provide some of the initial capital they also helped us in developing relationships with the SBA and other lending institutions and professional organizations that would support Senior Helpers as the company grew.
One of the most rewarding experiences operating a business in New Hampshire has been the new family and friends that have come about. Being a transplant from Oklahoma and moving to New Hampshire with no family or friends made life a little lonely at times. Through our businesses we have been able to develop long lasting friendships and relationships. Many of whom we now consider family. There's not one day that goes by that we are not grateful for our community.
